Donations Made on December 3 Will Be Matched 2:1
Doug and Lori Heil of Doug Heil State Farm and Dacotah Bank-Mobridge, both longstanding supporters of community giving in north central South Dakota, have pledged to match the first $10,000 in donations to the Mobridge Regional Health Care Foundation on Giving Tuesday, December 3, 2024. On that day, also known as the South Dakota Day of Giving, donors who give towards the improvement of our region’s critical access hospital can triple the impact. Funds will be used to help pay for the expansion and renovation of Mobridge Regional Hospital.
Mobridge Regional Hospital & Clinics is a critical access hospital with four Rural Health Clinics that provides essential health services for rural and frontier families across an area of over 6,000 square miles. Its current building project will add over 30,000 square feet to the hospital and Mobridge Medical Clinic. The additional space will allow for better workflows to maximize staff, additional out-patient specialty services in the clinic, and a new infusion center able to provide on-site chemotherapy and other life-saving infusions.
Dacotah Bank’s $10,000 match on December 3 is part of a larger $100,000 match they are offering now through the first week of January. “At Dacotah Bank, we believe in investing in the well-being of our community,” said Kevin Wientjes, Market President. “We are excited to partner with local residents and other organizations through this match to build a stronger, healthier future for Mobridge and surrounding communities.”
Donors who want their donation matched can contribute through the MRHC Foundation’s event landing page, by mail, or in person at 1401 10th Ave W, Mobridge on December 3. “We are going to have a fun sign that donors can hold for in-person photo opportunities and a digital version that donors who give online or by mail can use on their own social media,” shares Haden Merkel, Philanthropy Coordinator for Mobridge Regional Hospital & Clinics. “If you’re mailing a check for that day, though, please let us know and add an email address if you’d like us to send you a sign!”
The MRHC Foundation is working in collaboration with South Dakota’s Day of Giving which offers prizes and matching donations of its own to nonprofits who meet their goals on December 3. “We are so thankful for the support of Doug and Lori and the team at Dacotah Bank,” says Merkel. “Their support makes me optimistic that we’ll hit our $10,000 goal on December 3 and really kick-off the year-end giving season with a win.”
With the construction taking longer than we expected, building costs have been higher than originally budgeted, and the Foundation’s fundraising efforts are playing a more important role than ever before. “We want everyone who has already donated to this campaign to know how much we appreciate them. Whether $10 or $10,000, each donation has been a wonderful reminder of the community’s support,” shares Merkel.
