**Updates on New COVID-19 Bivalent Booster Vaccine**- FDA News Release
CDC's recommendation follows the Aug. 31 FDA authorization of updated COVID-19 boosters and clears the way for the boosters to be administered to the public.
Individuals 18 years of age and older are eligible for a single booster dose of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine, Bivalent if it has been at least two months since they have completed primary vaccination or have received the most recent booster dose with any authorized or approved monovalent COVID-19 vaccine.
- With the arrival of updated boosters, CDC is reframing what it means to be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination. You are up to date if you have completed a primary series and received the most recent booster dose recommended for you by CDC.
- Updated COVID-19 boosters add Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 spike protein components to the current vaccine composition, helping to restore protection that has waned since previous vaccination by targeting variants that are more transmissible and immune-evading.
Mobridge Medical Clinic plans to have a Bivalent Moderna Booster clinic once vaccine is available. Please check back for updates regarding future booster clinics.
