Nurse Manager - INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY

The Nurse Manager is responsible for the effective implementation of nursing practice and operations across assigned units at MRH, ensuring safe, evidence-based, and cost-effective patient care. This role supports the hospital’s mission and goals through leadership, communication, and collaboration that promote excellence in patient care, outcomes, and experience.

The Nurse Manager manages staffing and resources, supports professional development of nursing staff, and works closely with the CNO. This is primarily a Monday–Friday position based in the nursing administrative offices; however, the manager may assist on patient care units during staff shortages or special needs. The role requires flexibility to work in all clinical areas (OB, ER, ICU, Med/Surg) with current or promptly obtained certifications for each.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement annual goals for assigned units; monitor progress and take corrective action as needed.
  • Advocate for patients and families, ensuring rights are respected and satisfaction concerns are addressed.
  • Support staff education and competency in electronic systems (e.g., Cerner, Kronos).
  • Ensure patient care complies with all regulatory and licensure standards.
  • Develop, communicate, and implement departmental policies, procedures, and standards aligned with best practices.
  • Participate in committees and initiatives to improve patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other department leaders to resolve issues and enhance processes.
  • Recruit, hire, counsel, and evaluate nursing staff in partnership with Human Resources; promote professional development.
  • Maintain up-to-date staff records for licensure, credentials, and education.
  • Encourage staff participation in professional advancement programs.
  • Manage and resolve conflicts among staff, physicians, and patients/families.
  • Lead process improvement efforts and conduct regular staff meetings on safety, performance, and operations.
  • Oversee staffing levels, scheduling, and competency assessments to ensure patient safety.
  • Manage unit supplies, equipment, and quality control documentation.
  • Identify and address educational needs for staff and patient populations, including community engagement.
  • Assist in developing operating and capital budgets for assigned units.

This position will primarily be Monday - Friday, eligible for full benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, 401k, Life and FSA.

Management experience is preferred, but not required.
